In the summer of 1054, a star appeared in the sky and burned for twenty-three days in full daylight. Astronomers in China called it the guest star. Two years later, it was gone.
It had already been dead for six thousand years by the time they saw it. They only ever saw it leave.
This is that star, held still.
Printed on true lenticular lens, the image is not fixed. Head on, the star burns steadily. Move a few degrees and its core collapses inward. A few more, and it breaks open into supernova. No screen, no battery — the image changes because you do.
